Clayborn Temple will continue its In This Place speaker series Monday, February 18, as a way to build relationships and have authentic conversations around restoration – as well as the social, racial and economic injustice that has plagued the city of Memphis. Tami Sawyer, Shelby County Commissioner and Managing Director of External Affairs at Teach for America, will be facilitating the event as its In This Place Speaker-in-Residence.
Clayborn Temple, a space for restoration, artistic production, social innovation, economic justice and community transformation, today announced a national tour of its production, “Union: The Musical.” Through its creative performance, “Union: The Musical,” inspires audiences with the story of the Sanitation Workers’ Strike of 1968; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his last campaign for justice, and one of the defining moments in American democracy. With a focus on community engagement, the production invites audiences to engage with the struggle for a more perfect union in their own time and in their own communities.

Clayborn Temple will host an Open House Weekend event October 21, to highlight the importance of Main Street preservation efforts in Memphis. Clayborn Temple is one of 20 diverse and historic Main Street districts across the country participating in the Partners in Preservation: Main Streets Open House Weekend.
The VIP portion of the event will be held 1-2 p.m., and the public open house will take place 2-6 p.m. Open House Weekend activities in Memphis are one of many local events taking place nationwide on October 21.
